Situated in Zone 5, Sutton is less than 30 minutes by train from central London, and south and south west London are easily accessible by public transport. There are 10 train stations which serve key neighbourhoods within the borough providing direct connections to London Victoria, London Bridge, London Blackfriars and St Pancras International. Sutton also has direct rail connections with Epsom, Dorking, Guildford and Horsham, as well as Wimbledon for an interchange with the London Underground and West Croydon for the London Overground. There’s also an extensive road network which provides close and easy access to the M25 and M23.

Clinical Psychologist 

Grade 9 - £43,815 - £51,903 (unconsolidated maximum £53,946)

This is a really exciting opportunity to contribute to our MDT for people with a learning disability.  In the role you will work closely with Nurses, Psychologists, Physiotherapists, Occupational  and  Creative Therapists.  You will also collaborate with family carers, Social Workers, Commissioners, the NHS  and providers of residential care and supported living. 

Reporting to the Clinical Health Team Manager you will be required to deliver the best outcomes for the health of adults with a learning disability.  

This role supports the commitments set out in Sutton’s Health and Social Care LD Strategy to help improve access to work, health, independence and social participation.  You will work collaboratively deploying your specialism to support the work of the wider team. 

Sutton has embraced hybrid working and, although you will be required to work face to face with service users, there will also be ample opportunities to work remotely.  

You will be a qualified Clinical Psychologist with significant experience of assessing and treating people with learning disabilities, including people with complex communication difficulties.

The Clinical Health Team for Adults with a Learning Disability

This is a really exciting opportunity to join a friendly multidisciplinary team of health professionals. We are committed to eliminating the health inequality experienced by people with a learning disability.  We are also working with colleagues to increasing the uptake of employment and daytime opportunities and improve respite provision for carers.

Local Intelligence Check (LIC) and Counter-Terrorism Checks Level 3 Vetting

The successful candidate will have to undergo the specified vetting process including an initial Local Intelligence Check (LIC) and Counter-Terrorism Checks Level 3 Vetting.

Part 1: A Local Intelligence Check (LIC) which involves local Sutton Police officers running a search on the successful candidate on a database to ensure there’s no/limited risk to working from the Police Station pending the outcome of full vetting (part 2). This process is expected to take 2-weeks and is to be completed before the agreed start date.

Part 2: A New Scotland Yard CTC Level 3 Vetting: This process is done upon appointment and commences on the agreed start date at the Police Station. This is an enhanced process which involves a more thorough background search to provide the right security clearance for access to the police station. This process typically takes at least 3 months to complete.

Please note: Appointment and employment is conditional on the post-holder completing and successfully holding Met Police Vetting (Non Police Personnel Vetting Level 2) in order to operate from Sutton Police Station. Failure to pass Met Police Vetting will result in the immediate termination of contract.
