Situated in Zone 5, Sutton is less than 30 minutes by train from central London, and south and south west London are easily accessible by public transport. There are 10 train stations which serve key neighbourhoods within the borough providing direct connections to London Victoria, London Bridge, London Blackfriars and St Pancras International. Sutton also has direct rail connections with Epsom, Dorking, Guildford and Horsham, as well as Wimbledon for an interchange with the London Underground and West Croydon for the London Overground. There’s also an extensive road network which provides close and easy access to the M25 and M23.

Team Manager - Adult Services

Grade 10 – £52,929 - £61,491 (£63,684 unconsolidated maximum)

Team Managers in Adult Services receive a Welcome Bonus of £1000 paid in your first month salary.

Whole package totals up to £64,684

Team Managers are able to work flexibly between home and work to meet the needs of the service, as we recognise the benefits of a hybrid model of working.

We currently have a number of exciting opportunities for Team Managers to support us in delivering our service for adults in need of social care.  Our approach is strength-based and we aim to achieve the best outcomes - enabling  people to be safe, as independent as possible and to live the lives they want.

As a Team Manager, you will be responsible for delivering our statutory social care duties, supporting staff and ensuring that work is of a high standard.  Your duties will cover assessment, support planning and safeguarding.  You will also play your part in ensuring that commissioned services are cost effective and, where appropriate, will contribute to the coproduction of service improvements, with services users and family carers. 

Our Teams 

Locality Teams

Services for older people, people with physical and sensory disabilities and people with mental health related needs are delivered by our 4, locality teams.  These bring Social Workers together with NHS colleagues, supporting holistic, integrated working.  The teams are based in Carshalton, Wallington, Sutton and Cheam.

Hospital Team

Staff within our hospital team work closely with NHS colleagues to facilitate safe, timely discharge.  Their priority is to enable people to return to their own homes, utilising reablement and other services to enable them regain independence.

Learning Disability Teams

Within our boroughwide health and social care service for people with learning disabilities there are two Social Work teams - one for young people aged 18-25 and one for older adults.   Staff work closely with colleagues from the LD Clinical Health Team, children services and other local partners to achieve a smooth transition to adulthood and to support independence, wellbeing and choice.

Successful candidates will lead their team to deliver against our statutory social care duties. As a subject matter expert, you must have an in-depth understanding of the current legislation, regulations, and guidance. You will be able support staff to be creative and innovative in their approach, whilst managing your own time effectively, evidencing outcomes and completing tasks within tight deadlines. You will also be able to assure the quality of work delivered by your team.  

In addition, we would expect the successful candidate to demonstrate the following competences:

  • A recognised Social Work qualification, registered with Social Work England and strong post-qualifying experience

Important Information - Criminal Records
This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory result to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). The Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) helps employers make safer recruitment decisions and prevent unsuitable people from working with vulnerable groups, including children. It replaces the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) and Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA).

Local Intelligence Check (LIC) and Counter-Terrorism Checks Level 3 Vetting

The successful candidate will have to undergo the specified vetting process including an initial Local Intelligence Check (LIC) and Counter-Terrorism Checks Level 3 Vetting.

Part 1: A Local Intelligence Check (LIC) which involves local Sutton Police officers running a search on the successful candidate on a database to ensure there’s no/limited risk to working from the Police Station pending the outcome of full vetting (part 2). This process is expected to take 2-weeks and is to be completed before the agreed start date.

Part 2: A New Scotland Yard CTC Level 3 Vetting: This process is done upon appointment and commences on the agreed start date at the Police Station. This is an enhanced process which involves a more thorough background search to provide the right security clearance for access to the police station. This process typically takes at least 3 months to complete.

Please note: Appointment and employment is conditional on the post-holder completing and successfully holding Met Police Vetting (Non Police Personnel Vetting Level 2) in order to operate from Sutton Police Station. Failure to pass Met Police Vetting will result in the immediate termination of contract.
